Five of Pentacles - Mercury in Taurus
When this card flew out of the deck I was like, really? Must I read this, should I pull again? Honestly this is an upending card for a more brutal overall spread than I would like to pull for the collective, but in reality, “brutal” would be a very applicable word for what so many people and the entire world is going through right now.
But even with more difficult messages in spreads, there’s always strength in magic. With the serendipity being, of all 78 cards in the Rider Waite tarot deck, Five of Pentacles happens to align with Mercury in Taurus, a transit that so happens to be ACTUALLY taking place at the moment this divination was cast. That’s right, transit Mercury does its Taurus ingress on May 2 2026 until May 17. This card is happening this month! NOT a freaking coincidence this card popped out. The Spirits and the universe clearly want a transmission on how Mercury in Taurus will impact us, with a focus on how to maintain the mental, because it’s Mercury.
On the tarot side, Five of Pentacles is a tough card, it speaks to poverty, lack of resources, hopelessness, loss, feeling broken and at the end of the road, needing to ask for help. Bright side is, when this card is present in a spread, you’ll normally get the assistance you need if you ask for it, but it’s a challenge to do that when you’re to the curb.
